We were a group of 6, ages 12-83, and the tour was fascinating for all of us. Carrie was kind enough to take us the day after we were scheduled (because there was a tornado watch!). She was prompt and thorough and it was a delightful walking tour. Don't miss it! Jill Hill2024-11-21Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Highlight of my trip to Charleston! I visited the area for a work retreat and knew I wanted to get in a walking tour covering architecture/history and this was perfection. Carri is knowledgable, conversational, and a total joy to learn from! 3 hours covering some of the oldest buildings in the French Quarter and South of Broad, even with a bit of rain we had a great morning. Highly recommend! John Beaupied2024-10-28Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had a wonderful tour of Historic Charleston with Carrie as our guide. She was on time and from the get go, we knew we were going to have an enjoyable tour. She has a keen understanding of the architectural history of Historic Charleston. We were fortunate to be the only two in her tour so it was a bit more informal and it made the tour that more enjoyable. Not only did she have the answers to all our questions, but she had questions for us as well. I would highly recommend the Bricks and Brushes tours. You will not be disappointed. Carri, our guide, gave us the history and the importance of art to Charleston while taking us to the top galleries. We met several artists and gallery owners. We learned so much about the historical artists of earlier Charleston to the edgy contemporary artists of today. Carri gave us a wide variety of art forms and mediums to see. As a past curator and manager of one of the largest galleries, Carri's knowledge of the Charleston art scene added an exciting dimension to the tour. Along the way, Carri took us to several historical sites in the Old Town. She gave us an interesting architectural overview as well. Carri was a fabulous guide who made the tour fun, lots of laughter, and gave us an exceptional experience we will always remember. We really enjoyed our time with Carri on her architectural tour. She is extremely knowledgable of architecture, history and even knows many of the folks who own homes along the tour route. This was an in-depth, educational experience that went further than other tours we've had in Charleston. I would definitely recommend setting aside time to walk some of the city with Carri as your guide. Abigail Ohab2024-08-26Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Carri was an outstanding person as well as guide to the city. An absolute encyclopedia of knowledge, I'd book Bricks and Brushes every weekend if I could. The tour was a great way to learn about Charleston history and the architecture of the homes south of Broad. We had plenty of time to ask questions and get to know the city a little better. Carrie is passionate about the history of this town and it’s preservation. Highly recommend if you want a more intimate tour centered around conversations and making a connection. Jeff Stahl2024-02-13Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Carrie and Jim are cheerful, engaging and extremely knowledgeable tour guides. We enjoyed their local’s perspective and insights into the history, people and architecture of Charleston. We couldn’t imagine better guides, or a better way to spend a few hours than walking through history with them as our guides. Thanks, Jeff and Tracy
